Pays du Marqueterre and the town of Rue
RUE, Picturesque town 6 km from the Authie Valley
First of all you’ll be delighted by its local shops…
What could be more appetising than buying salt marsh lamb at the independent butcher in Rue, or more enjoyable than strolling around the market on Saturday morning, meeting small local producers…
During your stay, you will also discover Rue’s historic heritage: the ramparts, the Chapel of the Holy Spirit (Chapelle du Saint Esprit), or the Caudron Brothers Museum, about the aviation pioneers.
Pays du Marquenterre is waiting for you
An unspoilt natural environment full of dunes and ponds, named after the marshy land: Mare in Terra, meaning “the sea in the land”. At the heart of the country, in the Saint Quentin en Tourmont Ornithological Park, you can watch thousands of birds, batrachians and other mammals in 200 hectares of protected countryside, a sanctuary for migrant birds in all seasons.
For family fun, don’t forget to visit the Asinerie du Marquenterre donkey farm in Quend. Little ones can play amongst the hens, ducks and goats, and can round off the day in the country with a donkey ride!
